TIE ROD ENDS FOR THE 70 SERIES

WHEN THE FRONT END FEELS LOOSE, THE TIE ROD ENDS ARE USUALLY THE CULPRIT

Tie rod ends on a 70 Series are the ball joint connections at each end of the steering linkage. After enough years of dust, mud, and corrugation, the internal grease packs out, the boots split, and the ball joint develops play that translates into vague steering at the wheel. Worn tie rod ends also wear tyres unevenly because the front wheels lose precise toe alignment under load. Replacement is a routine service job that restores precise steering feel immediately. They should be replaced as a complete set rather than just the visibly worn one, because the others are almost certainly close behind.

HEAVY-DUTY OEM-SPEC REPLACEMENTS

The tie rod ends in this collection are OEM-spec or heavy-duty replacements with rated load capacity for vehicles running wider tyres or carrying heavy loads. Each end is supplied with fresh grease, new dust boots, and the castellated nuts and split pins needed for safe installation. The ball joint internals use hardened steel rated for the loads a 70 Series puts through the steering linkage on rough roads. Thread pitches match factory specification so the ends screw into the existing tie rod tube without modification. Sets of four cover both outer and inner ends on most vehicles.

SUITS 70, 75, 76, 78, 79 SERIES

Tie rod end fitment is largely shared across the modern 70 Series family because Toyota used the same steering geometry across decades of production. Sets are available for the 76 Wagon, 78 Troop Carrier, 79 single cab and dual cab, and the older HZJ75 ute and Troopy. Each listing confirms exact body style and year range before you order. Replacement requires a wheel alignment afterwards because the new ends will not be set to the same length as the worn-out originals. Schedule both jobs together at the workshop.
