ROOF CONSOLES FOR THE 79 SINGLE CAB
OVERHEAD STORAGE FOR THE WORK UTE
The 79 single cab has minimal cabin storage from the factory. The roof above the front seats is bare headlining with no compartments at all. A roof console fits between the sun visors and adds a properly designed overhead storage unit with a UHF radio mounting position, lockable storage for valuables, an open shelf for sunglasses, and small cubby holes for fuses and other small items. For tradies and tourers alike, the roof console is one of the most useful single upgrades you can make to a single cab because it adds organisation where the factory cabin had none.
ABS MOULDED WITH UHF RADIO PROVISION
The roof consoles in this collection are moulded from ABS with a textured finish matched to the factory single cab headlining. Each console includes a recessed UHF radio mounting position sized for standard 5-watt 80-channel units, a microphone clip for tidy mic stowage, lockable storage for valuables, and additional small compartments. Mounting uses sun visor brackets and supplied extension brackets without drilling into the outer roof skin. UHF cable routing through the headlining follows the existing wiring channels for a workshop-clean install.
PRE-DPF AND POST-DPF FITMENT
This collection covers roof consoles for the 79 single cab across two production eras. The pre-DPF era (1999 to 10/2016) uses one console specification with mounting points matched to the older sun visor bracket positions. The post-DPF era (10/2016 onwards) uses an updated specification because Toyota updated the visor bracket positions slightly. Each listing confirms exact year range and trim level before you order. The roof console is essential gear for any single cab build that uses a UHF radio for work or convoy communication.
