ROOF CONSOLES FOR THE 78 TROOPY

OVERHEAD STORAGE FOR THE LONG-DISTANCE TROOPY

Troopys spend serious time on remote roads where a UHF radio is genuinely essential rather than decorative. The factory cabin offers nowhere to mount a radio properly, so most Troopy owners end up with dash-mounted or floor-mounted units that get in the way. A roof console solves the problem by giving the UHF a permanent home overhead between the sun visors, plus additional compartments for the small items that touring builds accumulate. Sunglasses, registration papers, spare keys, fuses, a small torch. All of it lives in one tidy unit rather than scattered across the cabin.

ABS MOULDING WITH UHF RADIO MOUNTING

The roof consoles in this collection are moulded from ABS with a textured finish that matches the factory Troopy headlining. The unit includes a recessed UHF radio mounting position sized for standard 5-watt and 80-channel units, plus a microphone clip for tidy mic stowage. Additional compartments include lockable storage for valuables, an open shelf for sunglasses, and small cubby holes for other items. Mounting uses sun visor brackets and supplied extension brackets without drilling into the outer roof skin. UHF cable routing through the headlining is straightforward.

VDJ78 AND GDJ78 FITMENT

Roof console fitment is matched to the specific Troopy roof and sun visor configuration. The VDJ78 (2007 to 09/2023) and GDJ78 (09/2023 onwards) options are kept separate because the visor mounting points changed slightly at the facelift. Each listing confirms exact year range and trim level before you order. The roof console is one of the most useful single upgrades on a touring Troopy because the UHF radio gets used constantly on remote roads, and having it overhead within easy reach of both driver and passenger makes daily convoy communication straightforward.
