SAFARI ARMAX AND V-SPEC SNORKELS FOR THE 2007 TO 2023 VDJ V8 70 SERIES
INTAKE UPGRADES FOR THE V8 ERA
The 2007 to 2023 VDJ V8 era is the most common 70 Series on Australian roads today. These vehicles came factory with an air intake behind the grille at chest height, which sits squarely in the dust cloud thrown up on any unsealed road. Run a stock VDJ on dirt regularly and the factory paper filter chokes long before the scheduled service interval. A Safari ARMAX or V-Spec snorkel relocates the intake to roof height in clean air, and on water crossings it gives the V8 a serious safety margin against ingestion. For any 70 Series owner who drives on dirt with any regularity, the snorkel is one of the most practical upgrades available.
SAFARI ARMAX AND V-SPEC, SIZED FOR THE V8 INTAKE DEMAND
The 1VD-FTV 4.5L V8 has a higher airflow demand than the older 1HZ diesel, so VDJ-era Safari snorkels use a larger intake bore than pre-2007 models. Each snorkel in this collection is either a Safari V-Spec (the cost-effective fixed ram head option) or a Safari ARMAX (the premium CFD-modelled high-flow option for owners running engine mods or heavy load). Both are moulded from UV-stabilised polyethylene with the correct bore sizing for the V8. The ram head and airbox adaptor are matched to the V8 guard shape and airbox connection respectively. Mounting uses existing guard holes plus a few additional template-marked cuts. Pre-cleaners are available as add-ons for the dustiest outback environments where additional filtration before the airbox makes a real difference.
SUITS VDJ76, VDJ78, AND VDJ79 (2007-2023)
This collection covers Safari ARMAX and V-Spec snorkels for the 76 Wagon, 78 Troop Carrier, and 79 single cab and dual cab built across the full VDJ V8 production run from March 2007 to 2023. Each listing confirms exact body style and year fitment before you order. The guard shape is largely consistent across the sixteen-year production run, so most snorkels suit the full V8 era. Vehicles built from 2024 onwards run the GDJ facelift with new guards and require the matching GDJ-era snorkel options instead.
